Succession
Succession is the sequence of biotic changes that regenerate a damaged community or start a community in a previously uninhabited area. Some of the changes that happen in the arctic tundra is the melting of glaciers. When the glaciers melt they left behind rocky plains. The ground in the tundra is like permafrost, so it is very hard for plants and trees to grow if the soil can not become in contact with. Soil was beginning to form by the lichens mixing with decaying lichens. Lichens are shown in Image 1. From there new plants were growing. This impacts the snowy animal because it has to adapt to the things they are given. As you can see in Image 2 you can see that with successional changes the environment goes through huge changes. For example they plants that are created because of these changes are important to the snowy owls. Since they are carnivores they depend on herbivores to consume something so that they reproduce and the owls have something to eat.
